J&K Proposes Rs 307.81 Crore Boost for Agriculture in 2025–26, Eyes Digital and Sustainable Growth
April 2025
In a major step towards transforming Jammu and Kashmir’s agricultural landscape, the Agriculture Production Department has proposed a comprehensive Annual Action Plan (AAP) worth Rs 307.81 crore for 2025–26. The proposal, aimed at strengthening sustainability, innovation, and farmer livelihoods, was tabled at the State Level Steering Committee (SLSC) meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo in Srinagar.
A large portion of the funding is proposed under flagship Centrally Sponsored Schemes, including Krishonnati Yojana (Rs 208.81 crore), which alone surpasses the Centre’s ceiling of Rs 149.23 crore. Key sub-schemes include Rs 25 crore for Agricultural Extension (ATMA), Rs 7.5 crore for quality seed supply under SMSP, and Rs 8.75 crore for staple crop productivity under NFSM.
Horticulture continues to be a priority with Rs 118.51 crore allocated under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH). Additionally, the Digital Agriculture Mission (DAM) proposes Rs 46.05 crore to usher in tech-driven farming practices through geo-tagging, unified databases, and cost-efficient inputs.
The Rs 99 crore Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) supports rain-fed farming, agroforestry, soil health, and mechanisation. This visionary plan positions J&K at the forefront of modern, resilient agriculture, aiming for increased productivity and rural prosperity.
