JSW Energy Accelerates Green Push, Eyes 30 GW Capacity by FY30 with Strategy 3.0
April 2025
JSW Energy, the power arm of JSW Group, is fast-tracking its growth ambitions by revising its generation capacity target to 30 GW by FY30, up from its previous 20 GW goal. Following the addition of 3.6 GW in FY25, its total installed capacity now stands at 12.2 GW, with 18 GW more in the pipeline, predominantly renewable.
This pivot toward clean energy marks a significant strategic shift. By FY26, renewable sources are expected to make up two-thirds of JSW Energy’s portfolio. To support this transition, the company is preparing to launch Vision 3.0, a refreshed roadmap outlining a higher investment outlay than the Rs 1.15 trillion earmarked under Vision 2.0. Already, Rs 71,000 crore has been utilized, with another Rs 29,000 crore committed to key acquisitions.
A cornerstone of this expansion is the Rs 16,000 crore Salboni thermal project in West Bengal, whose foundation stone will be laid by CM Mamata Banerjee. Beyond power generation, JSW Energy is actively exploring green hydrogen, nuclear, battery energy storage (12 GWh pumped hydro and 1.8 GWh BESS), and EV battery manufacturing.
Though focused on B2B, JSW’s strategic bets and disciplined growth reflect its commitment to becoming a clean energy powerhouse in India’s evolving energy space.
