Reliance Power & Bhutan Ink ₹2,000 Crore Deal for Nation’s Largest Solar Project
May 2025
Reliance Power has signed a major agreement with Bhutan’s Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) to set up the country’s largest solar power project, with an estimated investment of ₹2,000 crore. The project, spread across four strategic sites, will generate 550 MW of solar energy - marking a significant step toward diversifying Bhutan’s hydro-dominated energy mix.
This collaboration, supported by India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, not only boosts Bhutan’s renewable energy capacity but also strengthens regional ties in clean energy development. The project reflects a growing trend of cross-border green initiatives and showcases strong government backing for solar energy in South Asia.
As the global energy landscape rapidly transitions toward sustainability, such mega partnerships are setting the tone for the future of power generation in emerging economies.
